SocialWorkU LLC ("we," "us," "our") is a career, education, and licensing platform for U.S. social workers, covering jobs and employer tools (Employ), program directories and exam prep (Educate), and licensing guides, career data, and renewal reminders (Empower). This policy applies to socialworku.com and our subdomains, including tools.socialworku.com and licensing.socialworku.com. The entity responsible is SocialWorkU LLC, based in New Jersey, USA.

Information we collect

You provide

• Account & contact: name, email, and (for employers/schools) organization and role.
• Professional details: license type, state, number, NPI, supervision and caseload details, and career information you provide or claim.
• Documents you upload to features such as the Vault (e.g., certificates, supervision logs) and tools you choose to use.
• Newsletter & alerts: your email and the states/topics you want updates about.
• Job activity & communications: applications, saved jobs, and messages you send us.

Collected automatically

• Usage data (pages, clicks, scroll, approximate location from IP), device/browser data, and cookies. See our Cookie Policy.

From public & third-party sources

• License records published by state social work boards; provider data from the NPPES NPI Registry; and publicly posted job, employer, and program information used to build profiles.

How we use information

• Operate and improve the Services and build employer, school, and professional profiles;
• Match candidates with jobs and supervisors and deliver alerts;
• Send license-renewal reminders, newsletters, and relevant professional communications (with easy opt-out);
• Provide licensing guides, career data, and tools; communicate about your account; and
• Detect and prevent fraud and abuse, and comply with legal obligations.

How we share information

We do not sell your personal information. We share only with:

• Employers / supervisors — when you apply, request a match, or share your profile, the relevant party receives the information you submit.
• Legal & safety and business transfers, subject to this policy.
• Aggregated / de-identified data (e.g., median salary trends by state) that cannot reasonably identify you.

We do not use your personal information or private uploaded content to train AI models. Where features use AI, your inputs are processed to provide the feature, not to train third-party models.

Public records & professional directories

We build accurate profiles using information that is already public — state-board license records and the NPPES NPI Registry — and may use a professional contact address from these sources to send communications relevant to your profession (renewal reminders, guide updates, or notices about claiming your profile).

The Vault & security

We use administrative, technical, and physical safeguards, including encryption in transit. Documents you store in the Vault are kept to provide that feature and are not used to train AI or shared with third parties unless you direct it. No method of storage or transmission is completely secure.

Your privacy rights

Depending on your state (e.g., California, Colorado, Connecticut, Virginia), you may have rights to access, correct, delete, and opt out of any "sale" or "sharing" or targeted advertising, without discrimination. To exercise them, email privacy@socialworku.com. Do Not Sell or Share / GPC: we do not sell personal information and we honor Global Privacy Control signals.

Your California privacy rights & choices

If you are a California resident, the California Consumer Privacy Act (as amended by the CPRA) gives you the right to know what personal information we collect and how we use it; access and delete it; correct inaccuracies; opt out of any “sale” or “sharing” of personal information and of targeted advertising; limit the use of sensitive personal information; and to not be discriminated against for exercising these rights.

Categories we collect include identifiers (such as name and email), professional information (license and career details), internet and usage activity (including analytics data), and information you provide. We collect these for the purposes described above and retain them only as long as needed for those purposes or as required by law.

We do not sell your personal information for money. Some analytics cookies (Google Analytics, Microsoft Clarity) may qualify as “sharing” for cross-context behavioral purposes under California law, and you can opt out of this at any time.

Your Privacy Choices / Do Not Sell or Share: we honor the Global Privacy Control (GPC) browser signal as a valid opt-out of sharing. You can also opt out through our cookie preferences, or email privacy@socialworku.com with the subject “California Privacy Request.” You may use an authorized agent. We verify requests and respond within the timeframes the law requires.

Email & choices

Unsubscribe anytime via the link in any message. We comply with CAN-SPAM: commercial messages identify us, include a valid physical address, and honor opt-outs promptly.

Children's privacy

The Services are intended for working professionals and adult students and are not directed to anyone under 18. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13; if we learn that we have, we delete it. We do not knowingly sell or share the personal information of minors under 16.
